Abstract

As a higher literacy rate increases a nation's human capital, it is one of the crucial indicators of a country's economic position. Improving a country's education system to raise its literacy rate requires research, analysis, and forecasting of the many factors impacting literacy. We hope to provide a comprehensive overview of the census data used to analyze literacy rate trends and patterns throughout time, make predictions about future literacy rates using existing enrollment and demographic statistics, and conclude with some suggestions on how to raise literacy rates.
